BOZEMAN — Statistics for 2014 show Bozeman continues to be the safest city in the state.

The city has recorded the lowest crime rate for the fourth out of the last five years.

Data from the Bozeman Police Department and the Montana Board of Crime Control shows Bozeman registering 32.7 crimes per 1,000 residents in 2014. Bozeman is followed by Helena with 48.8 crimes per 1,000 residents, Missoula with 49.2, Great Falls with 50.3, Billings with 52.4 and Kalispell with 54.3.

Of those major cities, in 2014 Bozeman had the fewest homicides with zero recorded.

Bozeman’s crime rate has improved from 10 years ago when there were 56.1 crimes for every 1,000 residents.
